Definition

Tinnitus may appear in both excess upward patterns and deficient Kidney patterns.

Clinical Meaning

With dizziness, irritability, and distending headache it often points toward Liver Yang Rising; with low back weakness and nocturia it may indicate Kidney deficiency; with stronger heat signs think Liver Fire.

Pitfall / Exam Tip

Tinnitus is not automatically Kidney deficiency. In exam stems it becomes meaningful only in context.
