Definition

Spleen Qi Deficiency refers to weakened digestive-transformative function of the Spleen, leading to inadequate production and movement of qi and fluids.

Clinical Meaning

Weak transformation and transportation → inadequate extraction of food essence → fatigue, loose stools, and poor appetite.

Common Patterns / Clues

The tongue is often pale, and the pulse is often weak. Teeth marks or swelling suggest deeper Spleen weakness.

Differentiation

Compared with Spleen Yang Deficiency, cold signs may be absent. Compared with pure damp obstruction, the deficiency signs are more central.

Pitfall / Exam Tip

If there are no clear cold signs, start with Spleen Qi Deficiency and then ask whether dampness or Liver involvement is also present.
